In order to service a rapidly growing client base, we are looking for highly skilled and motivated individuals for our New York team. UBIMET is currently searching for a technically strong and experienced engineer to join the New York Infrastructure Team for the position of:

Linux Systems Engineer

Responsibilities:
• Effectively support Ubuntu Server environment on Physical & Virtual servers.
• Perform extensive troubleshooting and analysis on Linux systems.
• Ensure system availability and network functionality based on service level agreements (SLAs)
• Continually identify efficient solutions for systems, processes and procedures
• Monitor, archive and backup data sets


Qualifications & Experience:
• Associates degree or industry qualifications backed by commercial experience in server, network or storage systems.
• Strong Linux administration experience (Ubuntu/Debian preferred).
• Server virtualization experience -- (VMware or Linux containers)
• Experience in working with large application servers and storage platform technologies (SAN/NAS)
• Good knowledge of databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL or MongoDB)
• Scripting skills (Perl, PHP, Python, Bash)
• Experience with Linux software package management technologies such as dpkg, apt, etc.
• Experience with application and network monitoring systems such as Zabbix, syslog etc.
• Experience with configuration management systems such as Puppet, Foreman, etc.
• A solid understanding of IP networking and related technologies
• HPC and Datacentre experience is a plus for this position
• Experience in deploying and supporting Cisco networking equipment (ASA/ASR, Nexus switches, etc.) would be an added bonus

This full time position reports to the New York IT Manager.
