HVAC controls company seeks hands-on technician for service, checkout, programming, and startup of large & small scale Andover control systems for heating, ventillating & air conditioning equipment in commercial buildings. Programming experience is not required but good PC computer skills are.
The work involves checking out systems and networks throughout a building, programming the equipment and setting up color graphic displays which show the status of equipment on one or more PC's and via the internet. Since we control mechanical heating and cooling equipment our technicians learn to understand and diagnose problems with the mechanical equipment that we control (air and water flows, temperature, humidity and pressure) not just problems with our own control equipment. Our technicians must, with no prior training, be able to read the manual for equipment they have never seen before and figure out how to get it to do what we want. The work is very challenging and our technicians learn something new every day.
If you are truly interested in the way things really work both theoretically and practically, on paper and in reality and can solve problems on your own, this is the job for you. Good communication skills, the ability to break something down into fundamental components and explain it in an understandable way, are essential as we are frequently the people who find the root cause of a problem and then explain it to everyone else (engineers, managers, technicians, contractors).
2 year technical degree or equivalent experience required.
Experienced and entry level applicants welcome.
