Who we are: New York Wild! is a travelling zoo, providing New York City schools with educational live animal programs. Our exhibits also take place at child care centers, summer camps, street fairs, birthday parties and special events. We literally transform these locations into a zoo, with giant aquariums, ponds and displays. New York Wild! was founded to give urban NYC students more opportunities to experience nature and wildlife up close. We inspire people to care about wildlife and protect it. Many animals, such as snakes and reptiles, are misunderstood or hated because of how they're portrayed in scary movies and television shows. By introducing people to the real thing and erasing many of these misconceptions, we change the way people see these animals and spread a positive message about facing your fears.

Operations Assistant: we are seeking part time operations assistants who can provide intense labor involved with setting up displays and shows. Candidate must be physically strong, have a valid driver's license and vehicle for getting to/ from jobsites, able to work late nights, early mornings, and occasional long hours. Position involves intense heavy lifting of aquariums, live animal transport containers, crates, heavy equipment and loading/ unloading trucks. Pays $16/hr

Typically 3-4 days per week depending on show dates, hours will vary. Labor is needed during 3-5 hour periods of setup and breakdown of equipment and exhibits. Upcoming monthly show schedule is provided -- candidate must have enough flexibility to be available when we give advance notice.

Candidates willing to take on the following duties, IN ADDITION to working as operations assistants may qualify for a more extended position with more hours. Part time positions involving ONLY these duties are not available.

Animal Facility Caretaker -- position involves assisting with care and maintenance of animal facility. This includes operating relevant equipment, cleaning cages, providing food/ water, and intense cleaning. This can be a dirty job. Candidate must be willing to work around potentially dangerous animals including alligators, and willing to handle smaller species of reptiles. All proper training is provided. $10/hr

Educational Program Assistants -- in addition to providing the necessary labor, educational program assistants participate in our travelling exhibits working with guests and students. This position involves working with children, working directly with reptiles, providing tours of exhibits, sharing information with the public, answering questions about animals, assisting with handling of large reptiles such as alligators, occasional crowd control and responding to emergency situations. $10/hr
