POSITION DESCRIPTION
Position Title: Maintenance Worker (part-time) FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Reports To: Sr. Director of Community Health Initiatives Date: 12/12/14

POSITION SUMMARY
The Maintenance Worker position works is responsible for keeping the Iris House office to which they are assigned in good condition, including but not limited to: cleaning, sweeping, washing/vacuuming floors as needed, trash removal, ensuring offices and bathrooms and clean and functional and maintaining overall cleanliness of the office area. As well, the Maintenance Worker is expected to assist in preparing the conference room and other areas for use for workshops, seminars and other events as needed. This current opening is for the Iris House office at 2271 2nd Avenue (Eat Harlem) and the position is Monday-Friday, from 12:00 p.m. -- 4:00 p.m.
ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS

1. Demonstrates teamwork and open communication.
3. Maintain offices and common areas in good condition
4. Responsible for ensuring supplies needed are sufficient
5. Report condition of offices and common areas to Supervisor
6. Make or arrange for repairs as needed.
7. Ensures that maintenance area is kept clean.
10. Participates in creating and maintaining a workplace that values diversity.
11. Maintenance and up keep of the kitchen and storage area.
12. Assist in food pantry bag preparation and distribution

OTHER POSITION FUNCTIONS

1. Attend and participate in supervisory meetings along with Iris House general staff meetings.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education: HS Graduate or equivalent required. There is a minimum of 2 years experience required or a combination of education and experience.

Other Requirements: Experience with relevant skills, including some combination of janitorial and general handyman skills. Bilingual preferred.

Good disposition for frequent contact with Iris House department staff.
