Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM), an internationally recognized presenter of contemporary performing arts and cinema, seeks Full-Time Assistant General Manager. The Assistant General Manager supports the General Manager in the oversight of day-to-day operations of the institution, particularly as related to all live performances, as well as the operations of the department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
◾Support General Manager in oversight of General Management department, facilitating collaboration and communication among department members, and supporting the work of the General Manager as needed.
◾Supervise assigned programs, working closely with BAM producers, curators, partners, Companies, artists and/or clients in order to ensure successful execution of events.
◾Support and enable BAM's mission by providing the best possible environment to enrich our programming, strengthening partnerships and encouraging continued collaboration in the future.
◾Manage special projects and conduct research as assigned by the General Manager and Executive Vice President.

1. Work with General Manager to:

a. Coordinate regular GM staff meetings and operations as needed to support and maintain department performance.

b. Support event related operations at the Fisher Building, PJS Building and Harvey Theater.

c. Execute the work of the department including the budgeting and contracting of mainstage shows and other live events as assigned.

d. Develop and implement new strategies to attract Rentals and maintain successful (repeat) client relationships

2. Provide General Management oversight when EVP and GM are unavailable.

3. Serve as the GM Representative and/or Event Manager for BAM programs and rentals as assigned. Responsibilities may vary with each event and may include:
◾Write, oversee and/or administer contracts and payments.
◾Develop and manage the budget. Collect, track, and maintain all expenses. Interface with Finance Department as needed to execute payments and project close outs.
◾Conduct meetings as necessary to interface with internal BAM departments and/or external partners to ensure smooth execution of events
◾Supervise on-site operations day of event. Coordinate all logistics with appropriate BAM staff and departments.
◾In addition, for Rental Events: Meet with clients to view space and book rental events at BAM.
◾Facilitate ticket sales between Marketing, Ticket Services, Box Office, Digital Media, and Finance.
◾Facilitate requests with Security, Press, and Marketing for event.

4. Coordinate GM staff to support the continued evaluation and improvement of Arts Vision (Scheduling and event management software)

a. Improve interface, functionality and reporting

b. Maintain and develop added modules as needed by BAM.

Position Requirements:
◾Graduate degree strongly preferred
◾Bachelor's degree required
◾Minimum 5 years relevant work experienced in the arts required
◾Excellent computer skills including MS Word and Excel
◾Basic accounting experience (submitting purchase orders)
◾Experience writing and managing budgets
◾Experience writing, interpreting and managing contracts
◾Excellent communication and customer service skills
◾Ability to interact with multiple internal and external parties
◾Ideal candidate will be creative and possess knowledge of current performing arts environment as well as knowledge of BAM's programming and mission
◾Must be willing to work evening and weekend hours as required
