Launched in Spring 2012, Girls Who Code is a national nonprofit organization working to close the gender gap in technology. With support from companies like Twitter, Facebook, Google, Intel, Adobe, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, and AT&T, Girls Who Code works to educate, inspire, and equip high school girls with the skills and resources to pursue computing careers.


POSITION

Girls Who Code is searching for a dynamic, results-oriented Boston Program Manager to manage Girls Who Code Programs in the Boston area. The Boston Program Manager will be responsible for meeting organizational goals for operational efficacy and programmatic success in the Boston area. S/he is tasked with supporting Girls Who Code's 2015 expansion into the Boston area. Based out of the New York City office, this role offers the unique opportunity to live and work in one of Girls Who Code's "hubs," for the majority of the year with an extended stay in Boston to manage the Summer Immersion Programs while they are in session.

The Boston Program Manager will report to the East Coast Regional Director and work in partnership with a variety of stakeholders, including Girls Who Code teaching staff, program partners, participants, and curriculum team. The successful candidate has at least three (3) years of demonstrated experience in a program or operations role in a metrics-driven environment.


RESPONSIBILITIES

The Program Manager is responsible for the timely and successful execution of the following:

-Support Girls Who Code's expansion to the Boston Area; support Regional Director in growing our presence, developing our brand, understanding the landscape and pursuing strategic growth opportunities
-Manage day-to-day operations of Girls Who Code programs and interns
-Manage needs and expectations of partners to deliver programs that meet organizational and partner goals
-Support Regional Director to monitor program budget
-Support all phases of the program life cycle including application build, student recruitment and selection, onboarding, offboarding, teaching staff management, impact reporting, etc.
-Develop and manage framework to ensure effective engagement of industry volunteers
-Manage student and parent communications and onboarding
-Plan and execute program events in collaboration with program partners
-Ensure programs are on track according to key metrics
-Develop processes to enhance organizational effectiveness and efficient program delivery
-Oversee implementation of program evaluation and manage program reporting
-Grow brand recognition and develop key local partnerships in Boston

QUALIFICATIONS

Requirements include:

-Bachelor's degree required
-At least 3-5 years experience in a program management or operational role
-Experience managing junior staff or interns
-Proven effectiveness managing multiple projects or programs at once
-Successful track record in setting priorities, shaping processes, and executing quickly and effectively
-Deep understanding of project management in a metrics-driven environment
-Excellent communications and people skills with an ability to balance priorities, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
-Comfort working with a distributed team a must
-Fun, team player with a flexible and creative approach to problem solving
-Able to work effectively under pressure to meet tight deadlines and goals
-Detail-oriented, with superb organizational skills a must
-Experience working with students and parents in an education or program setting a plus
-Experience with partner management a plus
-Willingness to travel intermittently throughout the year with an extended, 9-week stay in Boston during the Summer Immersion Program
-Knowledge of computer science, technology, and/or education sector highly preferred
-Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, maturity and confidence a must
-Commitment to Girls Who Code's mission
-Travel Requirements: Ability to travel up to 30% domestically.

Compensation: $50,000-$60,000 annually (commensurate with experience)
