We currently have a Human Resources Designate career opportunity at our Long Island City, NY (Queens) location. The successful candidate must be willing to relocate at the completion of the designate role/program.


POSITION PURPOSE:
This is an entry-level HR generalist role where the work experience is designed to provide a process of continual learning through the first 2-3 years of work in Human Resources. The successful candidate will work with all core HR functions and support the Labs Group Business Units. The candidate will be responsible for day-to-day HR activities as well as special projects in Human Resources that will provide a broad understanding of all HR processes and procedures in order to eventually progress into a specialty or generalist position located throughout Essilor of America or Essilor Labs of America. This is a fast-paced, highly engaging role that interacts with employees at all levels of the organization, including executive management as needed.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

● Serves as a first point of contact for Lab Management and Employees to ask various Human Resource questions (including benefits and payroll); Liaison between corporate teams and field employees & managers
● Develops recruitment advertising, creating job descriptions, placing advertisements on various media; works with the Talent Acquisition team to post, source and recruit as needed
● Drafts offer letters and conducts on-boarding activities
● Supports and participates with the HR Engagement and Business Partners in various levels of employee relations responsibilities
● Manage Workday Operations for the Business Unit; serves as field expert for managers and employees to troubleshoot Workday issues and involve the Workday Helpdesk where appropriate
● Acts as subject matter expert related to the employee handbook and all supplemental policies and procedures and deliver communications as needed to ensure compliance
● Assists in the development of employees in assigned locations by working closely with Management and HRBP Team; Ensures development programs are completed in a timely and accurate method.
● Works with management to develop and implement Progressive Discipline as needed and participate as required
● Handles the logistics related to Annual Planning, Mid-year Performance Reviews and Year-End Reviews as well as functions related to processing Merit and Bonus payouts
● Coordinates policy and procedures interpretation to ensure consistent application, as appropriate; Maintains employee files
● Supports the benefits team on benefits programs, processes and procedures; supports annual benefits review and open enrollment sessions where appropriate
● Manages Leave of Absence programs including Family Medical Leave Act, Disability, and other absences
● Assists and helps coordinate annual employee events (Employee Recognition, Holiday Parties, Essilor Vision Foundation Charity Events, Employee Surveys, etc.)
● Assist in Regional acquisition activities as needed; this can include pre and post acquisition responsibilities that encompass all areas of human resources support (payroll or benefit integration, etc.). Support acquisitions team through preparation of various analyses, reports, and investigations

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:
● Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related discipline required
● Human Resources Certification preferred
● Manufacturing, sales and/or Internship work experience preferred
● Excellent interpersonal skills
● Exceptional ability to work with various people at all levels of the organization
● Strong initiative and high energy; ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
● Ability to multi-task between many priorities and work activities
● Strong analytical and customer service skills
● Ability to think through complex problems and get to resolution quickly
● Excellent written and verbal communications skills
● Spanish language skills highly beneficial (Bilingual)
