Eugene Lang College The New School for Liberal Arts, one of the eight academic divisions of The New School, seeks a dynamic, focused, detailed, and organized individual to work with faculty and staff as Data and Reporting Analyst. The Data and Reporting Analyst will support data needs at the Dean's Office of the College and serve as Systems Advisor for The New School for Social Research (NSSR). Reporting to the Associate Dean for Academic Planning at Lang, the Data and Reporting Analyst manages, updates, and creates custom databases, reports and reporting applications, and database driven web applications in support of the college's information needs. The Data and Reporting Analyst also oversees the college's IT infrastructure (hardware, software, and peripherals), providing management and support of existing resources, as well as guidance and consultation on future undertakings. This position necessitates close collaboration between Eugene Lang College and The New School for Social Research. As the relationship between the two divisions evolves, so will the work of the Data and Reporting Analyst. Candidates should be flexible and open to future changes in their work portfolio.

Responsibilities:
•Administer a college-­wide, centralized MS Access database: regularly import university system data; develop additional reports, forms, and processes in conjunction with data owners and users; maintain technical and user documentation; train staff on database features and enhancements.
•Maintain and develop a suite of database driven web applications, e.g., online courses pages, freshmen and transfer student registration forms.
•Provide regular and ad hoc reporting for various internal and external constituencies; analyze and interpret relevant data for the purpose of evaluating the college's institutional effectiveness, e.g., retention, graduation.
•Oversee and manage the college's data backup and disaster recovery plan, including training staff on software configuration and general use/functionality.
•Collaborate with university IT and HR administrators on joint projects and initiatives. Serve as liaison for the college regarding academic and information technology issues. E.g., the university's transition from Banner to Workday
•Consult on matters related to college's University website/presence, and perform occasional page updates within the University's CMS.
•Monitor and recommend hardware purchases and software upgrades, including university supported packages and others currently used by university programs.
•Provide front­line technical support, training, and consulting for college faculty and staff (approximately 70 computers).

Minimum Qualifications:
•BA/BS degree.
•Minimum 3 years experience developing and maintaining Microsoft Access databases, with strong Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) programming skills.
•Excellent data analysis skills using SQL ­based query languages and applications.
•Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and MySQL DBMSs.
•Experience developing small web applications in HTML and a server­side scripting language.
•Strong computer skills including, but not limited to: MS Office Suite, especially MS Access and MS Excel; Adobe Creative Suite; general PC/Mac skills.
•Excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal skills.
•Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast­ paced, complex work environment, carry out detailed assignments, and adapt to changing situations and priorities.
•Ability to work well with a diverse student body, faculty, and staff and as a member of an administrative team.

Preferred Qualifications:
•Knowledge of Hyperion reporting software.
•Motivated to learn new technologies and new programming languages.
•Prior academic technology experience and knowledge of policies and practices in higher education.
•Experience developing web applications in ColdFusion.
