Senior Application Architect Needed - (Downtown, NYC) New York City

GENERAL FUNCTION

This Senior Architect position will be responsible for architecting Applications and Databases for assigned departments firm-wide. This position will primarily own the strategic technology direction and roadmap for building out service components and the next generation platform for all eBusiness, Financial Systems, and Central Services (time & billing, invoice delivery, audit/collections, and receivables) at the firm.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Departmental Goals

•Establish the departmental technical vision, strategic road map for platforms, business process modeling, subject matter expertise, and technical leadership for all aspects of the department's technology services.
•Provide technical leadership, coordination and communication for production issue incident management and follow-up problem management to ensure root cause is quickly identified and permanently remediated.
•Conducts research and feasibility studies on leading edge technologies and provides cost/benefit analysis for their implementation.

Technical Skills

•Provide enterprise architecture and component-level design for software; creating shared services, service separation, reusable, and industry-standard frameworks where needed to build highly stable, scalable, flexible, extensible, and maintainable software platforms, while also mitigating ongoing technical and operational risk.
•Provide leadership for major technology platform transformation and change management, where 10+ years of legacy technology is being re-factored and re-platformed to become a competitive advantage.
•Provide technical leadership for Application Development resources inclusive of technology selection, direction, and code review.
•Create, validate, and challenge effort estimate scoping for individual software features and larger releases.
•Provide hands-on application development for the build-out of defined services

Program/Project Management

•Perform technical business analysis, system analysis and scrum master role for solution delivery teams working with Agile and Iterative methodologies to help decompose high level project requirements into actionable Sprints and deliverables.

Required Qualifications

•Minimum of 5 years' experience as an Application Architect across multiple technical disciplines
•Minimum of 5 years' technical experience coding the following technologies:
--Relational databases - DB2 and MS SQL Server
--IBM iSeries and Microsoft Windows operating systems
--PHP development
--.Net programming with C# and/or VB.Net
--SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and/or Crystal Reports
--Excel/VBA programming
--CSS/JavaScript/HTML5 frameworks (jQuery, Bootstrap, AngularJS, etc)
•Stable work history with at least 2 years average duration per employer, few breaks in employment, and with progressively increasing career responsibility.
•Experience transforming legacy technology platforms from the ground up.
•Hands-on leader, visionary, and problem solver with a passion for excellence.
•Excellent oral and written communication, organizational, time management and customer relationship skills.
•Outstanding performer, persistent and pro-active leader, exceptionally detail oriented, and driven to exceed expectations.
•Skilled communicator and negotiator with exceptional written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
•Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.

Preferred Qualifications

•Prior experience supporting financial/eBusiness systems for a Legal/Law Firm business or related professional services industry
•Agile/Scrum experience a plus
