Seeking Wireless Network Engineer @ The New School - (Union Square, NYC) New York City

The New School seeks a results driven, service oriented Wireless Network Engineer to play a major role in the implementation and ongoing support of a complex networking environment. The Wireless Network Engineer will be primarily responsible for the design, maintenance, installation, and troubleshooting of a complicated enterprise wireless infrastructure. Additionally, this Engineer will provide backup and support for others in the networking group in areas such as routing, switching, and other core networking functions. A deep understanding of networking routing and security protocols is essential.

Responsibilities:
• Engineer, design, and maintain a complicated enterprise wireless deployment based on Aruba Networks wireless technology.
• Ensure the resiliency and stability of wireless networking services in a large campus environment.
• Provide ongoing operational support and troubleshooting of production issues.
• Optimize wireless networking throughout the campus environment.
• Design and validate RF link performance, quality, and reliability.
• Monitor and analyze statistical data to improve system performance using Aruba Airwave and other monitoring tools.
• Work with end users, contractors, consultants, and others for wireless networking deployments in both existing and new spaces throughout campus.
• Assist in the planning, configuration, deployment, and support of campus LAN/WAN infrastructure.
• Document the enterprise wireless system using tools such as Visio, Excel, and Word.
• Ensure the overall security of the enterprise wireless environment and relevant systems, including keeping current on the latest threats and security trends in wireless technologies.
• Testing and troubleshooting new wireless technologies on an as needed basis.
• Coordinate with networking, security, systems, and project management personnel on ongoing technology initiatives.
• Provide Level-3 technical support for the University Service Desk.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Strong working knowledge of wireless technologies and implementations, particularly in an Aruba wireless environment. Must understand and have working knowledge of Aruba wireless LAN technologies, ClearPass, and Airwave.
• Demonstrated knowledge of networking protocols and networking theory.
• Strong understanding of Cisco products routing and switching.
• Ability to see a network project through from start to finish, including analysis, design, planning, testing, and implementation.
• Strong ability to troubleshoot network related problems in a complex environment.
• Ability to work in a strong team environment as well as independently as the need arises.
• Demonstrated expertise in analyzing and solving complex technical problems.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent documentation skills.
• Occasional weekend, early morning, and evening work.
