Lead PHP Developer / Architect Opening - (Midtown East, NYC) New York City

Guidepoint Global is seeking a Lead PHP Developer with heavy Microsoft SQL Server experience to join its top-flight IT team. Our web development team is a highly collaborative organization consisting of engineers with the highest levels of technical depth, programming skill and a passion for quality.

This position is expected to refactor complex queries to offload resource utilization from MS SQL Server 2008 to Apache/PHP webservers (Linux). An ideal candidate is expected to absorb an immense amount of business logic and have a curious mind for process flows to data models and code interaction.

Duties and Responsibilities
Weigh-in on new architecture and database schema design
Design and develop web applications using PHP
Software build management and deployment
Create and run ad hoc reports written in SQL and iterating through large datasets in PHP
Tune database (indexes and schema organization)
Aid in crafting an in-progress Redis caching layer
Implement new features and maintain existing codebase
Follow and enforce coding standards and best practices (PSR-1)

Requirements
Bachelor's Degree or 5-8 years of Object Oriented programming experience in PHP
Experience working with an MVC framework (Zend, Symfony, Yii, CodeIgniter, etc.)
Experience designing, coding and consuming Restful APIs
Understanding of design patterns
Experience writing/understanding complex SQL queries.
Experience offloading ginormous SQL queries (data processing, grouping, sorting, joins, inner selects) to PHP code
Experience with caching, particularly with in-memory key/value storage
Heavy experience with Git version control
Strong Linux skills
Experience with deployment tools (Capistrano)
Experience with Agile software methodology
Experience working with a production environment with zero or very minimal downtime
Multitasking skills. Ability to drop in-progress items to unblock 13 developers
Excellent communication skills

Must have ownership!

Bonus
Exposure to Symfony2 / Doctrine ORM, entities, repositories and annotations a huge +
Experience in MongoDB a plus
Experience in AngularJS a plus
Experience in message queues a plus
Experience with Business Intelligence tool a major plus
