Hiring Junior Front End Web Developer - (Midtown, Manhattan, NYC) New York City

We are a thriving e-commerce company in Manhattan seeking motivated candidates for two (2) Junior Front End Web Developer openings in our IT department. This position is focused on emerging developers with a couple years' experience in Front End Web Development who are proficient with CSS3, HTML5, and JavaScript. Candidates also need some background with cross-browser compatibility testing and troubleshooting, as well as ideally some .NET programming skills. (Candidates with experience creating valid HTML5 and CSS3 will be prioritized.) This role is a great first step towards a long-term Front End career, as you'll learn from an experienced, successful team, be included in our new Employee Development Program, and have an impact on the bottom line.


Responsibilities
1. Front End coding projects (utilizing HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript)

2. Front and Back End programming projects (utilizing ASP.NET, VB.NET, and SQL). Any previous programming in PHP, Java, etc. will be sufficient. We are willing to provide training on .NET and SQL as long as the HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript skills are strong and you have other programming experience.

3. Cross-browser compatibility testing

4. Setup, launch, and test A/B split tests (using Optimizely). We will provide training.



Requirements
1. 2 year or higher of experience with web development
2. HTML5 proficiency
3. CSS3 proficiency
4. JavaScript proficiency
5. Cross-Browser Compatibility testing and troubleshooting
6. Attention to Detail
7. Ability to develop web pages from scratch from design mockups

Bonus Skills (Not required but very helpful)
1. ASP.NET programming experience

2. Back end experience (ideally with VB.NET or C#)

3. SQL

4. E-commerce development

5. Associates or Bachelor's degree in computer science or information systems

6. Photoshop

7. JavaScript frameworks - AngularJS, Backbone, Ember

8. Version control - Git, SVN

9. Mobile development (especially Xamarin)

10. Cross device testing

11. Split testing platforms - Optimizely

12. Understanding of SEO best practices

13. Optimizing code for performance
