Seeking Research Programmer NRAMM - (Upper West Side, NYC) New York City

The newly renovated, freshly opened Simons Electron Microscopy Center (semc.nysbc.org) is in the market for a Research Programmer to join our up and coming team based at the New York Structural Biology Center (NYSBC) on the City College Campus. The NYSBC is a shared center which supports our state of the art research into Electron Microscopy along with other departments (including NMR and X-ray Crystallography). Our new facility includes four transmission electron microscopes and a dual beam scanning electron microscope, along with our full suite of ancillary lab equipment to support the instruments.

The National Resource for Automated Molecular Microscopy (NRAMM; nramm.nysbc.org) develops new technology which focuses on automating and streamlining all aspects of molecular electron microscopy, and strives to make the technology available to the national scientific community. The Research Programmer will work on all aspects that are related to the computational support of NRAMM activities; this requires the support of current software (Leginon, Appion, etc.) as well as developing new algorithms and features as needed.

2+ years of experience in scientific programming emphasizing image analysis is preferred, though recent graduates are welcome to apply. Experience with Python, MySQL, or interactive web based applications would be highly beneficial. The ideal candidate will also be a quick study, capable of multitasking, and will work well on a team with the rest of our friendly, outgoing staff.
