Kamp Kiwanis Leadership Team-Seeks Waterfront Director & Unit Leader

Kamp Kiwanis is a not for profit, sleep away camp in Upstate, Central NY. Kamp Kiwanis is looking to fill the two remaining leadership positions. The successful applicants must have strong desire to work with the population we serve; previous child care experience is required. Previous experience supervising staff is not essential but may be beneficial. They will have strong people skills, an ability to work within a team and independently as needed. They will undergo additional training and must be willing to learn and adapt to an established management culture of a successful summer camp.

Waterfront Director - 21+, May 30th to August 31st, Competitive Salary plus room and board

Must have one or more of the following:
• Minimum 1 year previous experience as an Aquatics Director at a camp in state of New York
• 2 seasons experience as a summer camp Lifeguard totaling a minimum of 12 weeks with more than 1 lifeguard supervising at any given time
• 18 weeks experience as a lifeguarding working in an environment with more than 1 lifeguard supervising at any given time
Must have the following:
• Current lifeguard, CPR, first Aid and AED certification by a recognized national body
Must have one or more of the following:
• Lifeguard supervision and management certification
• Water safety Instructor certification
• Certification of training to a similar level as above

Male Unit Leader - 21+ Male or Female, 30th to August 31st, Competitive Salary plus room and board

The position requires an individual who can;

• Oversee a unit of male campers consisting of 2 or 3 cabins with up to 45 campers and supervising up to 10 staff who work directly with those campers.
• Provide ongoing training and supervision to staff working directly with campers to ensure safety and to build an ongoing culture of learning the benefits our campers
• To help create structure within which our campers flourish
• To identify problematic behaviors within our camp population and work to minimize/stop
• To motivate both staff and campers
• To work as part of a leadership team which ensure the smooth running of a residential summer camp its 140 participants and 50 staff and to do so while complying to all mandated board of health safety standards
