Import & Logistics Coordinator
Job Scope
The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for accurate worldwide shipping and logistics arrangements and communications. Logistics Coordinator will direct the efforts of the packing and freight forwarding entities to ensure that all transportation is booked, with proper documentation and all relevant Import and/or Export paperwork is prepared.
Duties & Responsibilities
• Arrange and coordinate freight for inbound and outbound shipments to and from your facility.
• Coordinate global shipments of small and large freight.
• Communicate daily with various parties, including but not limited to freight forwarders, customs brokers and global shippers.
• Coordinate with freight forwarders and customers to ensure timely delivery of all shipments.
• Interface with key departments and personnel to ensure logistics requirements are met while maintaining up-to-date accurate and concise information flow.
• Effectively handle email volume, phone calls and clerical duties; as required.
• Response time to emails within the same working day.
• Assist as necessary to resolve problems, such as discrepancies in documentation
• Communicate and escalate timely when problems may result in customer dissatisfaction
• Prepare all required documentation related to global shipments.
• Complete and maintain accurate shipping documentation for records retention.
• Ensure COO and HTS information is accurate on all documentation
• Work with spreadsheets and databases by entering data, pulling reports to create and maintain shipment status reports
• Willingness to help others and serve as backup beyond specific assignment.
• Perform various other duties and activities as assigned by manager within the physical constraints of the job.
• Know and understand standard Logistics and Desk Level Work Instructions
Essential
• Must possess working knowledge of international shipping documentation and terminology (customs, commercial invoicing, tariff documentation, etc.)
• Understand and properly apply the US Harmonized Tariff Schedule, (HTS) codes
Preferred
• 2-4 years international and domestic shipping and logistics experience
• Basic knowledge of industry, products and services
• Able to work under minimum supervision.
• Well organized
Must be a motivated, team player with demonstrated attention to details, a sense of urgency in processing and ensuring shipments are processed efficiently to final destination.
