Project Engineer Assistant Project Manager Needed - (South Slope, Brooklyn, NYC) New York City

We are actively seeking an experienced Project Engineer (Assistant Project Manager) to help manage a project on the north fork of Long Island from our Brooklyn based office.

This position is responsible for the following:
•Assisting the Superintendent and Project Manager with the overall plan for construction of a project.
•Having a working knowledge of how to estimate.
•Preparing quantity take-offs and materials pricing.
•Researching, ordering and tracking construction materials.
•Issuing request for proposals (RFP's), and distributing plans and contract documents to obtain subcontractor bids.
•Creating subcontractor/vendor scopes of work for the RFP's and Subcontract Agreements.
•Conducting subcontractor meetings/site walkthroughs to review plans and specs prior to pricing.
•Reviewing/negotiating/summarizing numerous subcontractor proposals.
•Securing required permits as needed.
•Preparing and maintaining RFI and submittal logs.
•Maintaining good relationships with the owner, architect, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, municipal authorities and company personnel involved with the project.
•Possessing working knowledge of all project plans, specifications, owner contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders, daily correspondence, shop drawings, submittals, and all other project related documents, and maintain a complete and accurate set of as-builts.
•Preparing/reviewing/distributing submittals and shop drawings. Please note, this candidate must have the ability to review steel shop drawings, window drawings, cabinet drawings, etc.
•Receiving, reviewing and coding applications for payment (AFP's) with PM.
•Providing timely project updates to the client and architect.
•Writing and managing Subcontract Agreements and Purchase Orders.
•Lien Release management.
•Actively participating and/or leading post-bid, buyout, coordination, subcontractor, staffing and scheduling meetings.
•Updating and following-up with project Punch Lists with the architect and construction team.
•Assisting in expediting payment from the owner and ensure prompt processing of invoices payment through to subcontractor for amounts due to them.
•Assuring that all product info, warranties, site and building as-built drawings, etc. are copied, archived and assembled into project O & M Manual.
•Assuring that Project Closeout procedures and archival is followed for all projects.
•Participating in jobsite quality control with the Superintendent.

Minimum Qualifications:

3-4 years residential construction experience.
Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and specifications.
Experience reviewing, interpreting and distributing shop drawings.
Excellent communication and team-building skills.
Ingenuity, thorough technical knowledge, and familiarity working with both traditional and non-traditional materials preferred.
Construction management degree or equivalent professional experience.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Project, Excel, and Word.
Flexibility to travel is preferred.
