Digital and Graphic Designer Wanted - (Midtown, NYC) New York City

General Description

A designer at The Garrigan Lyman Group (GLG) is a key team member in our highly energetic creative team and is a big part of the excellent work we produce for our clients. As a designer at GLG, you will collaborate with a cross-functional team of developers and user experience designers to create innovative work for our clients. While the majority of the work that you will focus on at GLG will be interactive design, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects, from corporate websites and campaign microsites to brand development, corporate identity, print ads, marketing collateral, and more. You will work closely with art directors and the creative director to develop concepts and will provide direction to the production artists on the team. We want you to be passionate about design and new technology, embrace social media, and have some interesting, delicious links to share with the team. A great iTunes playlist is always appreciated as well.

Essential Functions

-Designs innovative concepts for websites, microsites, and online ads that are on strategy and on brief
-Concepts and designs print ads, direct mail, and other marketing materials
-Works with art directors and the creative director to concept and implement brand strategy and corporate identity elements
-Provides creative input that supports the strategic direction of various client projects
-Collaborates with project managers, developers, and designers to complete the project on schedule and on budget
-At this level, individuals are expected to provide significant input to the direction of creative design projects and may provide guidance to production designers.


Job Skills

-Expert skills in Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign as well as strong print design experience; experience with Flash a plus
-Understanding of standards-based web design, CSS, Flash, and other rich media and how they impact your design decisions
-Experience presenting and selling your creative work
-Ability to prioritize and juggle multiple projects and deadlines
-Ability to meet deadlines, multitask, and work positively within a team environment
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills
-Highly motivated self-starter who can self-direct on large tasks
-Highly detail oriented and able to multitask

Required Education/Experience

This position typically requires a bachelor's degree from an accredited design program as well as five-plus years of experience working as a designer or interactive designer. Experience working at an interactive design agency on Fortune 1000 brands is a plus. Work at this level requires extensive, progressively responsible experience with focus on concepting and designing complex graphics in support of marketing initiatives. Portfolio depicting outstanding design and technical expertise in interactive design is required.
