Seeking Landscape Design Intern - (Brooklyn, NYC) New York City

Verdant is seeking an artistic designer/recent graduate that has a formal education as a landscape architect or similar field with a strong interest in landscape design and horticulture. The successful candidate will be offered a 90 day internship with the chance to join our team thereafter.

As you work with our senior project managers you will be exposed to projects of varying scales and locations, ranging from roof top terraces and back yards to larger commercial courtyards and gardens outside the city.

Primary responsibilities:
- The successful candidate will work as part of a team to survey and analyze sites and develop design solutions in AutoCAD, 3D and Photoshop renderings throughout all project phases
- Communicate your ideas both verbally and graphically in a clear and creative manner respectively.
- Prepare scaled hand drawings that are exciting, aesthetic but also buildable.
- Prepare material cost and quantity estimates
- Set up planter and plant procurement lists
- Communicate to nurseries, stone, wood and soil vendors
- Be accessible to communicate with the team and clients promptly
- Record and document project progress in an organized manner.
- Research new ideas & products and communicate with consultants to determine options and feasibility.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in landscape, architecture or related field with a passion for Design
- 1-2 years of experience
- Good plant knowledge
- Knowledge of grading, horticulture, and planting design
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and spoken;
- Fluent in architectural surveying;
- Good understanding of construction details;
- Strategic planning and organizational skills;
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail;
- Professional and driven demeanor
- Able to thrive in a team environment but also work autonomously without little supervision
- Sense of humor and passion for what you do
- Authorized to work in the US

Technical skills:

- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Proficiency in AutoCAD
- Working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite
- Proficiency in Sketchup 3D
