We're seeking a design build associate with several years of field experience to join our team of creative collaborators! The design-build associate is responsible for managing multiple projects with minimal amount of guidance.

VERDANT is a boutique firm specializing in designing and building gardens, rooftops, and terraces. We are comprised of artists, builders, designers and horticulturists. Our offices are located in the Carroll Gardens neighborhood in Brooklyn, New York.

Since our 2001 launch, our design studio has evolved --through an inquiry/prototype-based process--into a dynamic team of Makers. By nature of being at the intersection of architecture, horticulture and the visual arts, we have transformed into an incubator of talented artisans who gracefully oscillate between such domains.

Primary responsibilities:

- Understanding the clients' needs and the needs of the people using the building;
- Working with the client to develop design concepts;
- Overseeing all project related carpentry, painting, stonework;
- Thoughtfully determining materials and costs that match set budgets and negotiated project fees;
- Sourcing products, e.g. fittings, furniture, lighting, finishes, decoration and dressing, and material samples;
- Keeping project on schedule;

Qualifications:

- Field experience in architectural/design services;
- Field experience in New York City;
- Experience managing projects;
- Bachelor's degree in landscape, architecture or construction management, or equivalent an asset;
- Strong design sensibility;
- Knowledge of grading, horticulture, and planting design;
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and spoken;
- Familiarity with all facets of architectural survey;
- Strong technical knowledge with excellent understanding of construction details;
- Excellent strategic planning and organizational skills;
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail;
- Able to work in a team with other designers.

Technical skills:

- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Proficiency in AutoCAD
- Working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite
- Proficiency in Rhino 3D, Sketchup 3D
