Notwithstanding many people's high school experiences with it, math can actually be fun once you understand it. Really. Like puzzles...

I'm a former test-prep teacher who now tutors for the math portions of the standardized school admissions tests, and K-12 or intro college math, statistics and economics courses. I'll work with you to make sure math clicks with you, and keep helping you with it until it does. In my experience people who've had trouble with math often have had teachers who weren't good at explaining how to do math, or went too fast; we'll go through it step-by-step to make sure you understand each step and why you're doing it, to go from the info you're given through to the answer you're looking for.

And I can tutor you at a rate that will be affordable for you to study the amount you need to really improve your understanding of math--when I work with a student I really want you to understand math and achieve your goals, so I'll do my best to make it possible for you to do so. The nice thing about being an independent tutor is that you don't have the marketing and overhead costs of tutoring agencies with large non-tutoring staff, so you can offer the same (or better) quality tutoring for a much lower rate. I also do online tutoring with an online whiteboard and via Skype, for a lower rate than in person lessons.

Please call me at 347-977-0796 with any questions you have, or for a copy of my CV or references from my former schools and students. I have a BA from Tufts in economics, attended Stuyvesant high school, and got an 800 on the SAT and perfect scores on the GRE math section and GMAT diagnostic exams I've taken. I've taught test-prep classes for the GRE, GMAT and SAT at Baruch College, and tutored many students in junior high through college level math and economics courses, and to prepare for the math portion of standardized tests.

Thanks a lot for reading, and look forward to speaking with you--and hope we can start working toward your better understanding of math and improved scores soon :)
