Seeking Technician Hotel Engineer Mechanic - (Financial District, NYC) New York City

The Technician is responsible for delivering guest satisfaction, by performing a variety of service and repair related tasks, including, but not limited to, resolving maintenance related issues in guestrooms, communicating effectively with guests during guestroom service calls, completing service related guestroom issues in a timely manner, following up with the guest as appropriate, logging service calls, communicating difficulties with management, providing preventative maintenance in guest rooms, public spaces and hotel equipment, and coordinating with other departments to satisfy guests needs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Perform, schedule, administer and document preventive maintenance rotation, maintain proper records utilizing the established system.
Repair and maintain all hotel equipment.
Resolve all guestroom and public space maintenance issues, reporting difficulties to management.
Handle guest difficulties by listening to guests' concerns, offering solutions, and ensuring proper service recovery, notifying a manager as necessary.
Communicate effectively and courteously with guests during guestroom service calls.
Complete service related guestroom issues in a timely manner, following up with the guest as appropriate, logging service calls.
Responsible for leading Hotel Emergency Procedures.



PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Consistent professional and positive attitude and actions when communicating with guests and co-workers.
Participate in Daily Pre-Shift briefings.
Work directly with Management team to identify and accomplish all technical and skilled related projects within the hotel.
Resolve guestroom and public space repair issues including, but not limited to; caulking, tile repair, painting, wallpaper repair/hanging, appliance repairs, furniture repairs, carpet repair/tile floor repair, minor plumbing and electrical issues, and HVAC maintenance.
Install, troubleshoot, replace and program televisions and remote controls.
Monitor Smoke and Carbon Monoxide alarms in guestrooms, lobby, meeting rooms and public areas on a regular schedule, replace batteries/and or alarms as needed.
Assist management in the identification of consistent or major maintenance problems.
Conducts monthly inventory of maintenance supplies.
Requisitions supply orders to management.
Maintains Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) binder.
Practice safe work habits, wear protective safety equipment and comply with MSDS and OSHA standards.
To be groomed and dressed as stipulated in the staff handbook including wearing the correct clean uniform attire.
Must abide by and participate in all hotel fire and safety programs.
Perform other duties as requested by guests or management to provide superior guest service.



REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or equivalent.
Trade School certificate in related field required.
Previous engineer/maintenance experience or equivalent required.
At least two years prior hotel experience preferred.
Mechanical, electrical, HVAC, wallpapering, painting and plumbing knowledge.
Continuous training/personal development, relating to technical skills, and essential job functions.
Practice safety standards at all times, leading all hotel emergency procedures.
Technicians are expected to carry out all reasonable requests by management which the employee is capable of performing.
Comfortable interacting and engaging in conversation with guests.
Maintain a sense of organization and ability to prioritize in a busy environment.
Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
Good communication skills.
Customer service oriented.
Multi-lingual skills highly desirable.
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language fluently to communicate with management, clientele, and co-workers.
Flexible schedule to include evenings, weekends, and holidays as dictated by business demands.



PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to speak and hear clearly to communicate with others by telephone and in person.
Must be able to seize, grasp, turn, hold and reach objects with hands.
Must be able to work and move around the hotel for at least 8 hours.
Periodically is required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
Must be able to carry, lift or move at least 60 pounds of force.
Must be able to quickly move from one area of the property to another.
Must have depth perception and balance, for overall performance and be able to work with computers.
