The Community Health Worker Certificate Training Program at Kingsborough Community College introduces participants to a variety of health-related themes and it prepares them for positions in outreach, education and advocacy. Relevant themes include understanding: the relationship between health and human behavior, the role of health risk behaviors and management, disease prevention and how lifestyle, attitude and behavior changes affects the health of individuals.

Participants who successfully complete this program will be prepared to earn Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certificate (CPR) & Certificate of Completion provided by the Northeast Resiliency Consortium. Credits earned can be applied to a Community Health A.S. or Health, Physical Education and Recreation A.S.

The Culinary Arts Certificate Training Program at Kingsborough Community College provides students with hands-on training in Food Preparation and the preparation necessary to earn state and nationally recognized certificates in Food Safety and Food Production. Students will be introduced to the various components of the Food Service Industry, including fundamental cooking terminology, techniques and theories all while learning from professional chefs with years of industry experience, in our state of the art demonstration kitchens.

Participants who successfully complete this program will be prepared to earn NRAEF Servsafe, NYC Department of Health Food Handlers Certificate and the Food Safety and Sanitation Certification. Credits earned can be applied to a Culinary Arts A.A.S. (Associate in Applied Science).

All students will receive:
- Hands-On Training that will prepare them for employment in the field of Healthcare
or Culinary Arts.
- Employment readiness services and job placement assistance.
- Career counseling, college advisement and academic support.
- Opportunity to bank up to 9 college credits, applicable towards a degree here at
Kingsborough Community College.

Minimum Eligibility Criteria:
Must be 18 years or older
Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
Not currently enrolled in a college or training program.
Legally authorized to work in the United States.
Unemployed, or dislocated or TAA-eligible worker, or a worker at risk of losing a job or seeking career advancement.

Other eligibility requirements may apply.

*Low Cost: Upon acceptance to the program, students are required to pay $100 non-refundable program fee.
