Area Manager - Blue Apron (Jersey City, NJ)

As an Area Manager you'll lead and coordinate our Prep Kitchen, Pack Out, or Receiving team. You'll oversee 50-100 team members to ensure that we complete our work on time and up to Blue Apron standards. Ensure the team follows all procedures consistently and drive measurable quantitative improvements in performance. Build and grow our operation right along with us by pioneering new ideas and tackling projects large and small. Own food safety and team member safety.

As a fast-growing and rapidly evolving start-up our environment is unstructured so the ideal candidate is a self-starter who has 2-4 years of experience working independently to set procedures, uphold standards, and deliver measurable quantitative results in operations. Our fun and fast paced environment demands passion, multitasking, high attention to detail, the ability to perform with a sense of urgency, and keen problem solving and organization skills.

About the role

- As the leader of a team of 2-5 leads, you'll work through your management team to direct 50-100 associates.
- Track and own your team's progress towards hitting deadlines and throughput numbers. Establish area performance standards and goals. . . and hold your team accountable to hitting them.
- Put sustainable, repeatable processes in place. Hold your team accountable to following them and empower your staff to suggest process improvements.
- Build and develop your team. Own large pieces of scheduling, training and recruiting.
- Own safety of the team and of the food. Ensure the facility and associates comply with all state, federal and local regulatory agencies.
- Inspire passion and commitment. Develop your team. Ensure that Blue Apron is every team member's favorite place to work!
- Grow right along with us! When you master one department, we'll move you to another. There are many growth paths from this position into senior operations management!

Requirements

- You have a minimum of 2 years of successful managerial leadership experience in a food production environment, running a warehouse department, and/or working in operations at a start-up.
- You have experience owning quality and efficiency KPIs, and driving them in the right direction.
- You communicate clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing.
- You work calmly and effectively under pressure.
- You don't settle. You challenge the status quo and push your team and the company forward.
- You're excited to grow with Blue Apron!
- You have open availability. We work night and weekend shifts.
- You have a Bachelor's degree.
