Summary: Responsible for pull out, push-in, and/or after school support in planning instruction and/or adaptation of the instructional program using the Response to Intervention (RTI) model to facilitate student learning in accordance with SmartStart Education policies and state/district guidelines. Design and implement specific strategies planned to promote intellectual, social, and emotional growth in all identified intervention students. Evaluate and measure the effectiveness of RTI strategies and interventions in order to refine Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 levels of support. Consistently supports the instructional programs by communicating with regular and special education teachers.

Qualifications/Requirements
•Minimum of Bachelor's Degree and 2 years' experience in related field
◦NYC candidates must either hold NYC certification or have passed a NYC Board of Examiners Test to be considered qualified for the position (as per NYCDOE policy)
•Must meet all state DOE background check requirements
•Must have a computer and internet access with a working email address that is checked daily
•Must be able to commit to a regular, weekly schedule
•Must have reliable transportation
•Training: must attend program orientation (will be administered either online, or at a specified location) and complete online curriculum training prior to program commencement. Candidates that do not meet training requirements (prior to the program launch) will not be authorized to work.


Essential Duties/Responsibilities
•Takes attendance, using daily student sign in sheets, at the start of each session.
•Submits daily sign in sheets to Paraprofessional, Lead Teacher, or Program Manager upon the conclusion of each session or day.
•Ensures that pre-tests are administered to each student upon their first or second session, at the very latest.
•Sets a classroom code of conduct and communicates rules and consequences to students at the start of programming as a means to manage classroom behaviors and maximize student learning time.
•Creates a nurturing environment that promotes patience, teamwork, and confidence.
•Makes adjustments to Pacing/RTI charts as needed, based on changing student needs.
•Administers Progress Monitoring Assessments at the end of each month (during the last 3 sessions of the month).
•Uses differentiation techniques based on individual student needs.
•Attends data-team meetings, professional development workshops, and school staff meetings when required.

**Instructors are considered Learned Professional Employees. Interventionists are not paid by the hour, but are paid based on a per-session rate for the job responsibilities that are associated with each session, including prep-time and other duties that are executed outside of instructional time.**
