S.T.R.O.N.G. Youth, Inc. is a youth, family and community development organization specializing in youth and gang violence prevention/intervention. S.T.R.O.N.G. was built on the belief that the cure for our region's gang epidemic is in educating and empowering our communities to provide alternatives for our youth. Through youth empowerment programs and activities that promote positive values, S.T.R.O.N.G. gives young men and women the tools to eliminate negative behaviors associated with gang involvement.
Responsibilities:
• Develop and maintain financial records, spreadsheets and files
• Assist in preparation of annual budget for the organization with the Executive Director and Finance committee
• Monitors budgets and cash flow with Executive Director
• Manage bill payments weekly
• Track and record all income and expenditures; assign coding and enters all cash receipts/disbursements for the agency
• Allocate income and expenses to funds and projects
• Record manual and void checks into the system
• Work collaboratively with Executive Director to manage government funding/contracts: prepare voucher/claims reports
• Ensuring timely submission of bi-weekly payroll to payroll company and entering all payroll information for the agency
• Prepare monthly financial reports to submit to the Executive Director
• Manage the month-end and year-end close processes including bank reconciliations, receivables, and balance sheet accounts
• Serve as point of contact during fiscal audits and ensure integrity of all preliminary reports including but not limited to quarter end reports and financial statements
• Assist accountants on tax return preparation
• Prepare appropriate schedules and reports as requested by the Executive Director and Board of Directors
• Perform other duties as assigned from time to time by Executive Director, Board of Directors and auditors
SUPERVISION: The Bookkeeper will report directly to the Executive Director
Qualifications:
• Associate's degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience
• Minimum of three years non-profit accounting /bookkeeping experience including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger and financial reports
• Knowledge of computerized accounting systems, specifically QuickBooks and experience with Excel spreadsheets
• Experience managing and preparing reports for government funding
• Must be able to keep matters strictly confidential
• Strong analytical, problem solving skills and interpersonal skills
• Excellent organizational and time management skills; ability to meet deadlines
• Ability to communicate financial information
• Flexible work schedule
Days & Hours: Very flexible hours. Perfect position for a retiree with experience.

compensation: Salary: Position requires approximately 9-12 hours a month. $20-$25 an hour; commensurate with experience.
