399.00 Dollar US$ Vintage Antique Cast Metal Toy Beer Horse Carriage Advertising Piece - $399 (White Plains) White Plains

I have here an extraordinary example of very early cast iron toys. But this item is more than a toy - it is an antique piece of beer and advertising memorabilia. Based on the research I've done, this very rare piece represents Watney's Brewery of England. Watney's had used this piece over 100 years ago to promote their beer brand. This wonderful old toy was of course hand painted and the paint is all original and in terrific shape. Here is what this piece consists of -

Horse drawn cart - all four wheels spin, the front wheels turn left and right and the horse collar lifts up and down

Rider's seat - mounts to the rail at the front of the cart. A small piece of the mounting bracket is missing but the seat still mounts fine

Horse - this is not only the original horse but he still has his original rope stung through his bridle

The Watney's sign - mounts to, and is detachable from, the front of the cart

All 6 beer barrels - this is VERY rare that all 6 barrels are included, original and in excellent shape.

There is a double "X" on both the top and bottom of each barrel

Ladder - attaches to the back of the cart

The man - both arms rotate up and down (please see photos). The tools he's holding in both hands are in excellent shape

This beautiful old toy was made in England. From what I was told - I got this item from an estate sale - it was brought back to the U.S. by a returning WWI veteran. It is a believable story mostly because I also got a WWI bayonet at the same sale which the returning veteran had also brought home.
